POLAND has launched a stinging attack on the European Union (EU), slating the union as little more than a “body of bureaucrats”.

The country’s foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski said he “cannot accept” the European Commission’s authority as relations continue to crumble.

He questioned the “legitimacy” of the Commission, which he said was made up of unelected bureaucrats.

He later attempted to row back on his comments, claiming his issue is not with the Commission as a whole but rather “one commissioner”, First Vice President Frans Timmermans.
